Call for Logo

Logo Designs

The State of the Map Asia (SotMAsia) organizing committee is pleased to announce a call for logo designs. We need your help to build a strong, recognisable logo for the upcoming “State of the Map Asia (SotMAsia) ‘2024” in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, on September 28th and 29th, 2024.

By submitting a logo, you will be assigning an open license to “SotM Asia” so that it can be used across different mediums. The organising committee may also commission improvements to the winning work. Entries need to appear on the SotMAsia 2024 wiki page or logo entries by June 15th, 2024. The committee may open the logos to the community for a vote to decide which logo wins.

Design Brief and submission instructions

• Create your logo in PNG file format and in a scalable file format (either SVG or PDF).
• If you're not used to scalable formats, please still enter the competition, as we can try to help. Make your logo available online, One option is to submit your entry to sotmbd@gmail.com or ask.bhoot@gmail.com
• We will add the link or include your logo on the SotMAsia 2024 wiki page/Logo Entries for you
• Please ensure it’s a design we can add to plain or busy backgrounds
• The design should communicate

* The Bangladesh and Asia Pacific regional essence: the people, culture, and heritage 
* The sense of regional community
* The sense of learning, education, and knowledge-sharing
* Fun, Festivity, and Colorfulness
* The potential of frontier technology, open mapping, and open data for humanitarian and social good

• Dimensions: Ideally, 1200 x 1200 pixels or at least 1200 pixels for the shorter side
• Attach hi-res PNG, SVG, PDF, AI or EPS only
• In your email, add 1-2 paragraphs describing elements used and how these relate to open mapping, Bangladesh and Asia-Pacific regional history, culture, and heritage.

Prize

The winning entry will receive a full conference registration, a conference gala dinner ticket, a certificate of appreciation, and a goodie bag with the logo.

Distribution

The logo will appear on the conference website, social media, flyers, emails, sponsor communications, certificates, t-shirts and potentially any other conference ‘swag’ like bags, keychains, pens, etc.
